The limits on what you can build with these models are increasingly set by policy rather than capability. What can be deployed in regulated sectors, what data can be processed, what disclosure is required — none of those are engineering questions.
Anthropic published its position on open-weights models on 27 July, a week before this. Read together, the company is investing in the argument about how AI is governed, not only in the models themselves.
